There is an old saying: "It ain't over 'til it's over"—and it is repeated through the years for GOOD reason.
But YouTube and other sites are filled to the brim with videos of athletes who thought they'd won an event—celebrate too early—and in those few moments of premature celebration—lose their victory.

About the video below—Running Magazine says two Canadian Olympic athletes Natasha Wodak and Lanni Marchant—thought they'd share First and Second together at the Run Barbados Marathon—by holding hands as they crossed the finish line.
What they don't see is a very determined runner rapidly approaching behind them.
The winner, Trinidad and Tobago’s Tonya Nero, finished just ONE SECOND before the two women who were content to coast across the line—thinking they'd split the purse for their top two finishes.
