Most of the time TV commercials are a pain—interrupting programs and trying to sell us services and products that often don't even slightly interest us.

On rare occasions—though—they can be quite entertaining.

Thankfully—Culturepub seeks these out and shares them so we can all enjoy their magnificence.  : )

Case in point is this 2003 commercial for John Smiths Brewery in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England.

It shows a diving competition with—shall we say—an unusual competitor.

"Extinguished" - Charming 3D Animation Short

Hi!

Through the years, Ringling College Of Art And Design in Sarasota, Florida, has produced a number of excellent student animators and artists—and many go on to work for the major studios that create the large budget 3D animated films, TV cartoons, and commercials/ads we're all likely familiar with.

Fortunately, the school and its students share their animation projects on-line—and IMHO many rival the quality of what you'd expect from a studio with a HUGE budget like Pixar.

A case in point, is a lovely 3D animation called Extinguished—by Ringling students Ashley Anderson and Jacob Mann.

The plot features a young man searching for love—and all the highs and lows that go along with that.

Bonus points go to Corey Wallace who created a perfect music track for this student project.

The AMAZING Singing And Acrobatic Ross Sisters!!

Hi!

Superlatives are very overused these days—but this video of a Ross Sisters performance is truly AWE inspiring!

This trio of sisters were not only a triple threat by birth—but all three could sing and harmonize—AND they were phenomenal athletes who could do acrobatic moves that clearly required unbelievable flexibility and strength to perform.

Their singing/dancing/acrobatic routine of Solid Potato Salad is from 1944's Broadway Rhythm—which was originally filmed in black and white—but is nicely colorized in this version.

There's a bit of corny acting that starts this clip—but the video is embedded to start at 1:23—just before the sisters start singing/dancing.

Their acrobatics begin at about 2:25.

Laugh Out Loud TV Commecial—Garden Of Eden Surprise

Hello,

Although the quality of the video is low—this commercial from the Netherlands is VERY funny!

It features a beautiful "Eve" walking in the "Garden of Eden"—taking in everything around her.

Suddenly—"Adam" appears out of the forest—and Eve looks at him demurely—but clearly enjoys what she's seeing before her.

The hilarious surprise comes when Adam begins to reveal his personality—leaving Eve—shall we say—a bit "disappointed."

MMA Fighter Teaches Convenience Store Robbers A Lesson

Customer Says, "It's a Feel-Good Story" —  Screen Capture From News Report With Additional Text

If you're like me—you get tired of hearing about crooks going around—violently attacking and injuring people, robbing them—and even taking lives—and then getting away unpunished.

So when I saw the video below—showing a little instant justice being handed out—it made me feel just a little better about our world.

A Houston News report, shows a security footage of convenience store employee being attacked and beaten by two robbers as he returns from a bank run.

What the robbers don't know is that another clerk watching inside is a semi-pro, mixed martial fighter—who has trained for a decade in the sport—AND was a MMA National champion for 5 consecutive years in his native country of Sri Lanka.

Security cameras then show him running out of the store—and teaching the formerly "tuff-guy" robbers a quick lesson they're not likely to forget for a quite a while.

Proving there is no honor among thieves—their get-away driver begins to pull away leaving the two robbers behind.  One manages to make it to the vehicle—but the other is knocked to the ground—and so his brave accomplices leave 33 year old Odell Mathis behind—and he was arrested by police and later sentenced to 20 YEARS IN PRISON!!

A while back — I found an animation/video — "VIA" — on Vimeo.com — and have embedded it below.

It's beautifully done — the animation is well done, and it's backgrounds and colors are vibrant and pleasing to the eye — while the story is touching and poignant — gently and peacefully unfolding and pulling on the heart-strings along the way.
