Man Lived Alone In Woods For 16 Years With Pack Of Dogs

Today's video (posted below) is a both heart-warming — and perhaps a little sad.

Taken from a TV news program, the announcer begins , "A mysterious mountain man who lived for years alone deep in the heart of a Tennessee forest, his only companionship, a loyal pack of dogs he considered to be family...."

The report goes on to indicate the man named Tony, had lived by himself for 16 years in Natchez Trace State Park, and cared for his faithful pack of dogs, while they in turn kept him company and "were the only family he knew and loved."

At the time of this news report, Tony's pack included 31 dogs.

Screen Capture From The Video Below:  Tony Surrounded By A Few Of His Dogs

A reporter states that the dogs would all "come deep out of the woods, from all directions" when Tony called for them — and video shows them excitedly surrounding him.

Tony and his pack survived through "hot summers and frigid winters," as they kept each other safe and warm.

Tony With One Of His Dogs

Tony's health began failing, and so people were trying to help him "come in from the wild" — and Tony finally agreed — but only if each of his companions were given new homes.

So the report shows Tony and workers rounding up his pack in preparation for their new lives.

When interviewed, an animal rescue worker says that the dogs were "more social than most of their other cases," adding, "nearly 100% of these dogs are very sweet and want human contact."

A glowing testament to Tony's good care for them.

Tony was happy to finally let his friends find new loving homes and leave the forest himself — and in celebration he painted his face and exuberantly howled with his pack one last time as he gathered them together.

The report concludes that many of Tony's pups have already been adopted out to loving families — and happily Tony is reportedly doing well — has a roof over his head — and is recovering physically.

It's a feel good story — and a much needed antidote to much of today's news.

Enjoy!

Crazy Train - Acoustic Chillin Cover - Puddles Pity Party

Video Below —

Perhaps you've already encountered the unusual (to say the least) music videos put out by the 6'8", dead-pan clown, Puddles Pity Party (AKA Mike Geier).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Geier

It seems a lot of people love the Puddles—because his YouTube channel has over 559,000 subscribers—and he's was on season 12 of America's Got Talent where he advanced to the quarter-finals.

According to the Wikipedia entry about him:

"Mike Geier's most critically acclaimed act is his alter ego: a Pagliacci-type clown named Puddles Pity Party [and he] now performs almost exclusively as Puddles."

Screen Grab From The Video Below

On October 4, 2019—Puddles released a live video of his live acoustic cover of Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne (of Black Sabbath and TV's The Osbournes fame)—and it already has nearly 130,000 views.

Ozzy's Crazy Train original has been a staple of radio air-play, and is often featured in movies etc—and many are familiar with his version—so it's interesting to hear Puddle's contemplative, slowed down cover, and unless you've really examined the lyrics before, realize that they are pretty "deep" and more thought-provoking than expected from a "heavy metal" rock anthem.

Hope you enjoy this too!

BIG "WILD" CATS Like Boxes Too!

Hi!

Through the years I've had several domestic pet cats.

If you've ever spent time around one you know that if you out a box down that they will soon be investigating every inch of it—in and around it—batting at anything that passes nearby, chewing at the edges, and basically turning it into a kitty outpost they guard over, sleep in, and play with.

☺

Recently, I found another video from http://bigcatrescue.org revealing that even the "big 'wild' cats" (tigers, lions, leopards, etc) love boxes too.

Violent Pimp Meets Karate Black Belt

Today's video is one I saw many years ago on TV—and perhaps along the way you've seen it too—but IMHO it definitely deserves a another look .

It shows an alleged pimp—who'd been fighting with "one of his girls"—deciding to turn his anger on another man.

What he didn't know is that the guy he was attacking was a Karate Black Belt who'd been instructing police officers in a nearby building—and had come out to confront the malevolent man.

Though the hooker tries vainly to hold him back—he's determined to get to the target of his rage—and literally rips his shirt off to get away from her.

With all the violence in this world—it's very satisfying to see someone stand up to a bully.

Video: Wild Bear Sits Feet From Brave Photographer

Screen Capture From The Video Below

A New Year is almost upon us!

I hope you've had a great 2018—and 2019 will bring you nothing but the best!!

--------------------------------

As we close out and old year—today's video features a very brave (or crazy) photographer who decided to sit on a river bank and take pictures of bears feeding on salmon.

The video begins when when he is joined by a bear who nonchalantly walks right up to where he is sitting and takes a seat next to him—just feet away.

Bears reportedly have poor vision—and a breeze is blowing that may be obscuring the photographers scent—so the bear may not even be aware of him.

Both sit silently until.......

Porch Pirate Gets 12 Gauge Christmas Surprise

Hi!

Hope you are having a wonderful week—and if you're celebrating Christmas—you're able to relax and enjoy all the festivities a bit.

Unfortunately, during this Holiday Season—thieves aren't taking any time off—and videos of "porch pirates" stealing Christmas packages from homes are being uploaded almost as fast as the crooks are trying to steal them.

On the upside—some people are hoping to make  criminals think twice by using clever methods—from loading "dummy" packages with heavy rocks and dog droppings—to one guy who claims to have added a mechanized "fart spray" to a decoy parcel—set to go off when it was opened.

: )

------------------------------------

Today's very entertaining video—shows a home at night, decorated with cheery Christmas lights—as a thief saunters up to the porch to steal a package conspicuously left there.

A Screen Capture From The Video Below

Fortunately for us—he gets a nice surprise instead—when a 12 gauge shotgun blank is triggered and goes off when he picks it up—and the video shows him hilariously sprinting off into the darkness.

: )

Whether your celebrations have been dampened by thieves this year or not—it's quite funny and VERY satisfying video to watch.

Enjoy!

Bull Thinks He's A Horse

Hi!

Years ago when I was a wee lad — the little town I grew up in would hold parades to mark certain holidays or events — and because we lived in the mountains there were a lot of "western" themed floats and people riding horses and so on.

In fact — in one parade, my sister and I rode our horses — Frosty and Dusty — as part of our 4H "horseman-ship" group.

I'll never forget though — that one kind looking old cowboy would show up over the years riding a HUGE bull.

The street would be crowded with people — and the old guy would steer < cow joke) the gigantic bull back and forth across the road — zig-zagging his way along the parade route.

The bull seemed very tame and endured being saddled, ridden, and put on display— in front of a boisterous and loud audience who'd cheer and yell as he rode by.

--------------------------

I found a video today that brought that memory flooding back.

Screen Capture From The Video - Aston Thinks He's A Horse

I'll let the video description fill in a few more details:

"Sabine Rouas, 43, met Aston the bull five years ago when she started helping out at a nearby cow farm near Verdun, northern France. She formed a close bond with the newborn calf - then called M309 - and convinced the farmer to let her buy him and save him from slaughter.

Animal-lover Sabine then raised him alongside her pony Sammy, now 10, and noticed the baby cow was picking up the tricks she was teaching her new horse.

Now Aston enjoys his freedom and training alongside other horses."

Hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.

Video: Alexander The Great In Less Than 14 Minutes

Hello,

Today I'll share another video about ancient history: The 9 Lives of Alexander the Great
 — highlights Alexander's military conquests and triumphs as he stormed across the map.

Inspiring devotion and loyalty from his army — he leaped into battle — often fighting ferociously against insurmountable odds — and leading by example by being first into the front lines of many fights.

Along the way Alexander suffered grievous wounds and nearly died many times — so there is irony in his final death from fever once he had returned home again and had ended his military conquests.

Today I'll share another excellent animation—this time from Lighting Boy Studio.

According to it's description on YouTube:

Video: Rare White Moose In Sweden

Video Below

----------------------------------

Hi!

If you've visited this blog before — you're probably already aware that I love animals of all kinds — from the smallest to the largest.

I do have to admit however — that there is something special to me about the large woodland creatures found in forests around the world — like deer, elk, moose, and bears.

While not dramatic — today's video features AWESOME footage of a rare white moose in Sweden.

Screen Capture From The Video

According to the video's description: "Despite being completely [white, they] are not considered albino, but rather piebald."

I'm not certain about this because the definition found on Wikipedia seems to indicate that piebald coloring has patches of both pigmented and un-pigmented coloring — the the moose in this video is completely white.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piebald < opens new window)

I'll leave it to others to argue those merits — and instead let the video of this unique and amazing animal speak for itself.

Sun Tzu - The Art of War - In 5 Minutes

Video Below Commentary

A Quote From the Video Below

Hi!

Many years ago I purchased a copy of the book Sun Tzu - The Art of War intending to read it.

When I did finally sit down with it — I was bogged down by the LENGTHY introduction and early chapters where the origins of the ancient manuscript, the history of its time, the translation techniques, and so on — were gone over with a fine tooth comb.

I began to find all the technical information uninteresting — and ultimately put the book back on the shelf where it's been since then.

Once Trump became President people were saying he's read it — and bases much of what he does on the theories Sun Tzu espoused — so I decided to give it another try.

 ^ ^     Donald Trump Tweet From 2012    ^ ^

So with renewed interest — I dusted off my copy — turned past the ENDLESS academic introductory information — and went straight to the chapters featuring the translations of Tzu's writings.

It is indeed very enlightening to read his strategies — many of which seem like simple common sense — and understand that any successful battle involves planning and thought — rather than just blinding running head-long into it.

This isn't to say that successful battles haven't been won by throwing caution to the wind — but those who win multiple battles or campaigns generally haven't been so reckless.

These strategies can be applied to winning in sports, and in business and politics— but it can also be applied to maneuvering through all the pit-falls we encounter with people and in our lives.

If you think as I do, that "war" is something that should be avoided at all costs — Sun Tzu (who lived from 544 to 496 BC) makes it clear that not having to go to battle is the best strategy — and it is best to out-think your enemy instead of fighting them.

The video below encapsulates the book in a brisk 5 minutes — and highlights a few key strategies found in it.

Enjoy!

Woah Video! GIANT Moose Along Roadway

Video Embedded Below

Hi!

Sometimes it's easy to get jaded with all the amazing stuff you can find on the Internet and start to think you've seen it all.

Fortunately there are still a lot of awesome surprises too.

Today I clicked on a video expecting to be underwhelmed—and found myself literally exclaiming "WOAH!" out loud.

: )

The title on YouTube is "Meanwhile in Alaska: this giant wandering in the streets at midnight..." and it features a magnificent, GIGANTIC moose with impressive antlers walking along a roadway as a guy in a car films it.

The guy's accent makes it sound like it might have taken place in Canada—(and his commentary is a tad bit annoying)—but the video definitely makes up for that in my humble opinion.

Hope you agree!

Oblivious Elk Stand Feet Away From Incredibly Well-Camouflaged Man

I'll tell a quick, related story first about a cool experience I had coming across deer while hiking in the mountains — but if you'd like to skip my AWESOME tale and go straight to the sooper-cool ELK video — its embedded below.  : )

A Screen Capture From The Video Below
A Screen Capture From The Video Below
 ------------------------------------------------

Hi!

Years ago I lived in the Rockies and used to hike, camp and jeep all through those mountains and LOVED encountering many wild creatures from birds to squirrels — and porcupines to marmots — but I especially loved seeing the much larger and beautiful deer and magnificent elk.

I moved away many years ago — but still MISS ALL that so MUCH!

Back at that time, I went along with a guy who was bow hunting for deer.  We four-wheeled up into the mountains and when he found a good place to stop — he suggested I wait at the jeep while he hiked down a ravine — and that I follow him down in 30 to 45 minutes — and he'd stop me when I got to his blind.

I agreed and waited, and then began heading down to him — but eventually I came to an old barbed wire fence on rickety ancient wooden poles running perpendicular to the trail— with a game trail running both directions along it.

I hadn't been stopped by the hunter so decided to continue heading downward along the trail — figuring he'd stop me at any moment.

After hiking about half the distance I had from the jeep to the fence — I decided he had missed seeing me — and having a lot of confidence then in my sense of direction (from all the time I'd spent hiking around in the mountains) — I made a diagonal cut back up-hill through the thick woods, heading back to where we parked.

It was rugged, rocky, and evergreen and aspen forested terrain — and soon I started coming across some steep open meadows with natural bush piles — probably created by heavy rain and snow pushing dead branches and trees together through the years.

The Natural Brush Piles Looked A Bit Like This
The Natural Brush Piles Looked A Bit Like This - Although There
Were WAY More Aspens Than Evergreens And Nothing Showed Evidence Of Being Cut
Or Being Placed There By Human Hands.

Many piles were more than 6 feet high — so I couldn't see over them — and as I'd climb over one — I see another 20 to 30 yards further ahead.

I scrambled over several piles, and just when I got over one I heard CRASH — CRASH — CRASH — and saw a beautiful White-Tailed Deer bounding up the mountain ahead of me — beginning not more than 25 feet away - and "crashing" through the dry brush and tree branches.

I stopped in my tracks — watching her gracefully race away — and then noticed a doe in the aspens — only about 15 yards away.

All I could see was her side because her face was hidden behind a tree — so I SLOWLY leaned forward to see her — and SHE was leaning forward to LOOK BACK AT ME!

My Beautiful Doe Looked Just Like THIS
The Beautiful Doe Looked Just Like THIS  : )
Once we made eye contact she to crashed off into the woods and cleared a brush pile — like ones I had been struggling to climb over — in a single leap.

At the moment she bounded away — I heard more crashing all around me — as several other beautiful does (all within yards of where I stood) joined her heading in all directions away from me — 10 to 15 at minimum — and perhaps as many as 20 in all!

It's a awe inspiring sight to see White-Tail "run" because they spring-hop — and I'd estimate they were all easily clearing 5 to 10 feet or more with each leap.

White Tail Deer
White Tail Deer - The Doe Looked Just Like This
Once I collected myself — AND had a bit more of a climb — I made it back to the jeep and sat there thinking about my GREAT experience — and waited for the "mighty hunter" to return.

When he arrived, I started to tell him the story about hitting the fence and then cutting back to the jeep and he interrupted and practically yelled — "I KNOW...I COULD HEAR YOU CRASHING AROUND!"

: )

I laughed and told him about my close encounter with the BEAUTIFUL herd — and that he had been hearing THEM!!

---------------------------------------------

Anywho — enough about that — let's get to the AWESOME video!

: )

It's just as the title of this blog post says, Oblivious Elk Stand Feet Away From Incredibly Well-Camouflaged Man — and it's so cool I just had to share it with you.

At around 30 seconds in to it — you can hear a bull elk bugle with that unmistakable high, whistling sound.

Another elk gets with-in arms distance of the man — and even sniffs at his gear — before something (perhaps his sent) spooks her and she and the herd dart away.

At that — the guy in camo turns towards the camera and flashes a big grin.  : )

Hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did!

Thanks as always for stoppin' by!

And if you're the last one to leave could you turn off the lights as you go.

Thanks!

Video: What A Fantastic Break

Video Below

Hi!

This video may not be for everyone—but I found it mesmerizing to watch.

-----------------------------

Back in the day I used to play a little Pool (also known as Billiards)—enough to realize like any game it takes a LOT of practice and skill to become a great player.

Part of the art comes from not just making a shot but leaving the cue ball in position for your next shot.

A Screen Capture From The Video Below: Ronnie O'Sullivan In The Process Of Clearing A Snooker Table
A Screen Capture From The Video Below: Ronnie O'Sullivan In The Process Of Clearing A Snooker Table

An accomplished player can do this very well—and is thinking not only about the next shot but many more in advance—and puts spin (or English) on the cue ball to move it into position.

This requires a great deal of practice and skill.

----------------

If you're like me you've never heard of Ronnie O'Sullivan—but the video below shows him clearing an entire table in a game of Snooker—which is similar to pool.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snooker

He makes shot after shot, perfectly placing the cue ball for the next.

As I said above—I found it mesmerizing to watch.

Awesome Video: BBC Slow Motion, Timelapse AND HYPER-Lapse Photography

Hi,

Just came upon this Vox video breaking down the evolution of slow motion and time-lapse photography created by the BBC and others—and used in wildlife and nature films like Planet Earth.

Even though I know a little about the subject and have done a little of both—I found it very interesting—and the images/examples are spectacular.

For example—how do they film a hummingbird so you can see their wings moving slowly; or watch plants grow and wind their way around each other and so on.

The video also gives a brief look at a new way of shooting called Hyper-lapse photography.

That is a little difficult to to explain without seeing it—so if you're curious—just give the video a spin to check it out.

Video: Heart Warming or Fat Shaming Commercial?

Hi,

Just today I happened upon an awesome commercial from a supermarket chain, Edeka, in Germany.

It's set in a town filled with people who have been making very unhealthy eating choices resulting in an obese population—and a young teenage boy who wants to break free from this cycle.
