Historical Film Footage From 1890's Paris, France

Hi,

In the last post, I shared a video of old film footage from 1911's New York City—and remarked about how few automobiles were seen—and the number of horse drawn wagons and carriages that were still in use.

https://perfectusstuffus.blogspot.com/2019/08/fascinating-video-look-at-streets-of.html

Today's video shows street scenes from a mere 10 to 20 years earlier shot in Paris, France.

The 1880's footage is similar in the sense that people were dressed-up—with most men in suits and ties (with many carrying walking canes)—while the women are in elegant dresses—almost everyone wearing a hat—but the footage from each era has a stark contrast:  There is not an automobile in sight in this footage.

As with the last video—appropriate sound effects were added to the original silent film.

Also—there's an interesting "people-mover" (like what's in use at a modern air-port)—seen at about 4:50.

There is an interesting scene with fire wagons being pulled by powerful, galloping horses, at about 3:35, as well.

Hope you enjoy these old films as much as I do!

Fascinating Video - A Look At The Streets Of New York In 1911

Screen Capture From Video Below
------------------------------------------

Hi,

Our world has changed a LOT in the last 100 years or so—but thankfully there is still evidence left of a time long before our modern age of ubiquitous cars—AND every one's face glued to a cell-phone screen.

🙃

The video below shows a fascinating view of street scenes from 1911's New York City—and for our modern sensibilities—sound effects have been added to the old silent footage.

It's notable—while automobiles and streetcars are seen—that horses, and carriages and wagons were still widely used at the time.

 ------------------------------------

It's also interesting to see that the majority of men and women were "dressed-up"—the men in suits and ties—and the women in dresses—and almost all were sporting hats.

Also—as it was a time long before the modern era of processed and fast-food—there are virtually no obese people.

A viewer on YouTube left this intriguing "food-for-thought" comment under the video—although as of today it has been viewed more than 5.8 million times!

AMAZING Thought-Provoking Animation: The Albatross

Hi!

I found this short (7 minute) animation some time ago—and through the years have watched it several times—and each time, it resonates with me.

The characters and animation are unique, the story is very thought-provoking, and everything about it is well done.

It's YouTube description indicates it's a student project by film-makers Joel Best, Alex Jeremy, and Alex Karonis in their final year of study at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Hope you are inspired by this and enjoy it as much as I do.

'Redneck' Beat-Boxer Prank

I just found a cool video from The Daily Dropout featuring Ozealous, AKA Cody, a 'Redneck' Beat-Boxer.

The guy is really good, and it's fun watching the people he approaches to beat-box for smiling and genuinely enjoying his skills.

Hope you get a kick out of this too.

Enjoy!

Heart-Warming Video - Starving Puppy Found On Remote Island Is Now A Happy Pet

If you love animals like I do—today's video might be a little hard to watch in the beginning—but it has a VERY happy ending.

The video tells the story of a kayaker finding a starving dog on a remote island near Belize—and then his efforts to save the pup.

The man instantly fell in love with the little emaciated dog that he began calling Winston—and loaded him on his kayak to take him back to the resort where he was staying.

That's when he discovered the kindness of many people.

The guy had to leave the next day and left Winston with a vet, who then turned him over to a foster family who began caring for him.

Eventually, Winston returned to full health and was well enough to be sent on a flight to be reunited with his rescuer in Montana—where he found a loving home equipped with two other dog pals he can romp and play with.

It's a very beautiful story about the resiliency of a little dog and the goodness of people.

Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
