Historical Film Footage From 1890's Paris, France

Hi,

In the last post, I shared a video of old film footage from 1911's New York City—and remarked about how few automobiles were seen—and the number of horse drawn wagons and carriages that were still in use.

Today's video shows street scenes from a mere 10 to 20 years earlier shot in Paris, France.

The 1880's footage is similar in the sense that people were dressed-up—with most men in suits and ties (with many carrying walking canes)—while the women are in elegant dresses—almost everyone wearing a hat—but the footage from each era has a stark contrast:  There is not an automobile in sight in this footage.

As with the last video—appropriate sound effects were added to the original silent film.

Also—there's an interesting "people-mover" (like what's in use at a modern air-port)—seen at about 4:50.

There is an interesting scene with fire wagons being pulled by powerful, galloping horses, at about 3:35, as well.

Hope you enjoy these old films as much as I do!

Thanks for stopping by.

See you again soon......
